Process phases

Idea Collection Phase
Residents are invited to share ideas and potential projects that could be implemented within the ward. Residents are also encouraged to volunteer to help take these ideas and turn them into full project proposals for the ballot.

Project Development Phase
Volunteers, called community representatives, co-create full project proposals for the ballot by:
- Narrowing down the initial list of ideas based on if the idea is eligible (infrastructure on public land) and feasible
- Research project details and learn more about the specifics of what the community needs
- Work with ward staff and city agency staff to determine costs and additional project details

Voting

Presentation of the winning projects
The approved projects have been determined and are expected to be funded alongside the street and alley repairs across the ward.

Projects' implementation
In accordance with the City’s usual process of procurement, the winning projects are submitted to the Office of Budget Management to be implemented. In order to uphold the values of transparency and accountability, ward staff regularly update the community on the project implementation process.
