The baseball diamond at Little Gompers is a great place to watch a game but it is not a great place to play a game. Years of flooding has eroded the field and the surface needs to be redone. We're asking to redo the playing surface and dugouts at LG. Putting concrete slabs and new benches in the dugout will increase comfort for players by not having players standing in mud puddles that form in the dugout and get players filthy before they ever take the field. We'd also like to redo the playing surface to level it and put proper field mix on it which will greatly increase our league's ability to use the field after the inevitable Chicago spring rain showers. The field would be outfitted with anchors for the bases which are a higher quality and will decrease the amount of manual labor our all volunteer coaching staffs must do to prepare for games. We want Little Gompers to be a great place to watch and play games in the spring and summer!

Fixing Little Gompers would be wonderful!
Little Gompers is a perfect park for baseball games and baseball practice. It will be great to fix it up to make it more baseball friendly for everyone to enjoy from baseball players, coaches and family to enjoy every moment at Little Gompers.
This could be such a useful, beautiful field for the little ones to play baseball and make memories. It would be amazing for the kids, the coaches, and the family members to be able to enjoy it to the max without canceling games due to unplayable fields due to standing muddy water. Also, the kids would enjoy having more comfortable dugouts as well.
In addition to all of the comments above, there's a major player safety reason to move forward with the field upgrades. Fixing the uneven playing surface and poor drainage / slippery conditions will also make the fields more safe for all of our players!
This project would really impact so many families in the area. This would be great.
Little Gompers is the best field and badly needs this long overdue rehab!
Magical place to play baseball, softball and t-ball.
I agree. Gompers Park is a great park to host ball games but upgrades and renovations need to be made. These diamonds are used a lot and improvements would be beneficial.
The baseball diamond at Little Gompers is an absolute gem and is a place that brings our neighborhood and surrounding communities together. Through travel baseball, the diamond at Little Gomps serves as host to out-of-town teams and its current state of disrepair does not represent our neighborhood or the league as it should. Please prioritize funding to refurbish and modernize this baseball field!
I have many memories of my children playing softball at Little Gompers but towards the end, it was frequently unusable. It would be good to get it fuly functional again.
Let's continue to promote our beautiful park system by supporting this upgrade. Let's get kids out to play on a a safer field. We are blessed to have such a wonder park as Gompers. We are also very fortunate to have the GPAA baseball and softball program which is volunteer run and community based. Providing this upgrade is a win for the neighborhood, a win for baseball fans, and the biggest win for our kids!
Our local infrastructure is aging and, in some areas, breaking down. Many of our sidewalks are crumbling. These pose dangers to the residents and need to be the focus of our spending right now.
