PB39th Ward
#SpendSomeTimeIn39 Participate to the 39th ward's PB!
From conceptualization to implementation, the PB Process in the 39th Ward is broken down into steps to help the process run efficiently and smoothly. In each step, ideas are refined and developed. From the final step, the community vote, the winning proposals are sent to city departments for implementation.
1) Residents submit infrastructure project ideas that they would like to be funded with the 39th Ward's Infrastructure Improvement Funds. Ideas are submitted here, on the PB Platform. The platform allows community members to like and comment on proposals they support.
2) Next, Community Representatives review infrastructure project ideas and determine what projects will be on the community ballot. A Project Evaluation Matrix is used to help rate proposed projects. Projects are rated on three criteria:
- How much need does the community have?
- How much need is there for the project?
- How much impact would this project have on the community?
3) Once proposals are rated and reviewed, they are sent to city departments where estimates are given on the cost of each project.
4) After cost estimates have been received, the committee meets to select projects that will be placed on the ballot. The committee considers equity of project location and cost, implementation timeline, previously funded projects in the area, and community support. Once projects have been selected for the ballot, the ballot is created and translated into various languages. Both digital and hardcopy versions of the ballot are available.
5) 39th Ward residents, age 14 years and older, vote on the community ballot. The infrastructure projects that receive the most votes, which add up to $500,000, will receive funding from Infrastructure Funds.
Finally, the winning projects are announced and the PB cycle closes. Implementation and construction are then directed to various city departments and are monitored by the ward office.
