Renovation of Chopin Plaza
Chopin Plaza, the island between Milwaukee and Elston Avenues in Gladstone Park has become a meeting place for various activities, including Flag Day and holiday ceremonies. The Plaza is also decorated for the holidays, with a kick-off party, purchase of a Christmas tree, and the lighting of the trees and shrubs throughout the holiday season, bringing joy to many. Local organizations unite to maintain the plaza at various times of the year.
Over the years, the paver bricks have become uneven and the electrical to the trees is run overhead instead of underground. Lastly, the benches that exist are deteriorating. Project would include fixing / replacing paver surface, installing new benches, planting an evergreen tree, and running electrical to the trees under the pavers.
