New and improved traffic lights at Foster and Tripp
The intersection in front of Gompers Park Fieldhouse is dangerous. The timer-based traffic lights date back to the 1950s and are dim. Vehicles often ignor red lights and nearly hit pedestrians. Possible improvements: (1) rather than timers, "smart" or "intelligent" sensor-based traffic signals that detect when vehicles are present, (2) high-visibility traffic signal heads, (3) delayed green for eastbound traffic to allow westbound traffic to turn south on Tripp, (4) move stop line and install new traffic signal to allow vehicles to exit the fieldhouse parking lot, (5) new sidewalk access ramps on three of the four corners to allow wheelchairs and strollers to cross safely.

Had a few close calls walking my kids to camp there!
My mother had a close call here too, when she nearly stepped in front of a truck that plowed through a red light signal.
