North Park Village Nature Center Shed Roof
North Park Village Nature Center at 5801 N. Pulaski Rd Building D needs a new roof on the shed. The shed stores equipment, tools, mowers, a golf cart, etc. for the ongoing care and restoration of the Nature Center’s 48 acres of land. The current roof is the original cedar shake which is about 25 years old. It has a number of large holes and allows the rain, snow, leaves, debris, and pests’ entry to the shed. The roof is about 24 X 18 feet. We would like to replace it with a new, less expensive roof, not cedar shake.

Minks, grebes, flying squirrels, salamanders, and migratory bats live in a habit fragment in the middle of the city because of the work that the shed enables. Bob Porter and his crew of volunteers really do work magic in our urban landscape. They need the shed to shelter about 200 shovels, rakes, and bow saws (in addition to a whole bunch of other fascinating stuff) so that groups of scouts, teens, and retiree volunteers can experience unforgettable days creating biodiversity via sweat and effort. Fix the roof!
Volunteer work days at North Park Nature Village are the essence of community. People of all ages and abilities come together not only to work outside in nature -- but to learn about stewardship of our precious land.
This shed has gotten so much use over the years and we need to maintain it so it can continue being of such great use.
