Enhanced Pedestrian Traffic Signal at Sauganash Trail and Devon
The "new" flashing-light pedestrian crossing at Devon and Sauganash Trail is unsafe. Drivers do NOT fully understand what is happens when a pedestrian presses the button to activate the yellow flashing lights. I have personally witnessed numerous near misses as pedestrians and bicyclists enter the road believing that the drivers will stop. Unfortunately, drivers frequently interpret the flashing yellow signs incorrectly and do not stop. This situation needs to be corrected ASAP to prevent additional fatalities and serious injuries at this location. Installing a traffic light would resolve this problem by reducing confusion for pedestrians, bicyclists, and automobile drivers.

Alternatives that can clearly indicate the crossing to approaching drivers are textured paving along Devon, road markings, and additional illuminated signage.
