Flashing Pedestrian Crosswalk Sign
The corner of Cicero and Hiawatha is a very dangerous 4 lane Avenue wih no median where multiple children try to cross the street daily going to and from school. There is also a bus stop on both sides of the intersection as well as two large Edens Buildings which house many workers that cross the street from the bus stop to their jobs. Students are with their parents standing in the middle of the 4 lane Avenue without a median while cars do not stop and honk at them for trying to cross the street. I propose a light/median/turn lanes or at least a flashing pedestrian crosswalk so cars are made aware that pedestrians have the right away. This intersection gets clogged up daily by cars trying to turn, pedestrians trying to cross, and cars speeding down Cicero. Thank you

This is a great candidate for suggested improvements. Due to low volume of minor approaches, signalized intersection is likely not warranted. However, existing pavement is around 60' wide, with adequate room for installation of pedestrian bumpouts and/or a pedestrian refuge island along the crossing on the north side of the intersection. Additional pedestrian signing (as well as potentially a flashing yellow beacon) could be installed in the median along with the refuge island to improve compliance.
