Transportation improvement for seniors at North Park Village
More than six hundred seniors live in the six senior residences within North Park Village. More than half suffer from mobility issues and use canes and walkers. Very few have their own cars. Transportation, provided by EHDOC, is limited to a route within the campus that drops riders at the entrance to the campus at Ardmore and Pulaski Rd. From there they must take public transit to shop, and take it to return to the campus. Most take it to the Jewel at Foster and Pulaski, dragging their walkers, canes, shopping carts, and bags of purchases along with them. I propose that funds be allocated to allow at least one EHDOC bus (or other transit provider) trip per day to take seniors shopping at Jewel, wait for them, and take them back to North Park Village. This would incomparably improve the lives of many senior residents.
