Does the bridge have any actual use now?
From what I see (and remember), it is a bit dangerous to have a bridge there without any safety bars to prevent people from falling on the road.
Could the bridges be dismantled, and rebuilt for walkers with said art and signs?
At one point, the Weber Spur recreational trail was going to be built on the existing train line. Who knows what happened to that!
Interesting, maybe I'll send an email to Quigley about this bridge. Thanks for the info and proposal!
They're still working on getting the land from Union Pacific for the Weber Spur. South of this bridge the Weber Spur Trail would provide easy access to the bicycle lanes on Elston and Lawrence. South of the bridge you could also access the shopping center.

Beautification sounds great but there may be larger structural issues that could be addressed first.
Because the bridge was intended to carry railroad traffic and only needs to be converted to carry pedestrians, very little structural work needs to be done, other than fencing along the edge to protect kids from falling onto Foster Avenue.
